I been a Resident of the Absinthe Lounge since 2010 It was voted Trendiest Night Club by WFAA Channel 8 & I also do the Grind2shine pod cast easily found on itunes I also put out my first music in 2006 as lonestardjz. In 2010 I have djed on behalf of the Dallas Peace Center @ the National Student Alliance convention in Austin.

I would say my sound is a mixed bag of influences & eras in music production. I love the Deep surreal sounds & have always considered myself an after hours dj, when most dance clubs in Texas had a more main stream sound. I have done my fair share of small after hours parties for friends in Waco, Fort Worth, Austin, & Killeen after hours sports.
As well as opening for the Warp Brothers in 2001.
I also just started my new blog site where I put the interesting on blast.

Well I play a more Teched up version of House & lush Techno. It really is the Grey area between genre's of electronic music.

House & Techno two generic terms each. How ever they both sound amazing on big sound systems.

just to clarify, Afterlife is not afterhours
Afterlife is a normal club with a late hours permit allowing us to stay open til 4am
afterhours is anything open after 4am and generally they work in a gray area of the law where permits dont usually cover the hours after 4am
generally the only "legal" afterhours venues are strip clubs
and I use the term "legal" loosely there as its a very gray area....

you could play at afterlife, but afterlife hosting your sound-system wouldn't be necessary... the sound is ridiculous.

Our attempt was to have our own Stage / mini stage, and our own set up, & live Sound with Video Lcd's Screens & djs who program there own brand of music @ After Life with music that is not represented by After Life.


Where we could do our own music and Live show and be a kind of breath of new music for a younger demographic. How ever seems like Dallas is happy just being complacent.





We are not wanting to rent out the venue. Just doing our own thing during a normal non event night.
We are all serious producers/djs/ artist who are also have music soon to be released and not the typical genre found at Afterlife.

What genre's are not being represented at afterlife, cause I hear a bit of everything there. I play a mixture of UK funky, breaks, big beat, bassline, tech house, glitch, and funk....

I don't understand what this guy is trying to say... Why not just rent out the venue?

To speak plainly If renting a venue was something we had to do . We would just do our own thing else where. It opens up an entire different side to having to be about a business plan etc. Too much stress and B.S. along with it.

Afterlife gets plenty of people that want to play out there

afterlife has been around for almost 10 years and ive been involved in almost every show since
there isnt that much BS involved in it
just some hard work

Mark will also rent out parts of the venue, like just the warehouse, so you dont have to rent the whole thing

As far a thread rules I kind of understand it but some one cant promote there own music and what there doing and about? This goes along with freedom of expression of an artistic endeavor. I think even the scene in Dallas is bigger than some one policing a message board, that is supposed to be an exchange of ideas.
