Ok so I just got my ID and it's still paper will they take it at life?? Question

17 and up are admitted with valid state ID
Admission is $5 for girls and $10 for guys on Fridays
$10 for all on Saturdays

Hmmmm. I had a friend at Insomnia who not only was denied entry, but had that same paper ID confiscated from him on the spot. Different rules for different establishments, I guess?

yup, insomnia sucks ass and theyre dicks like that
technically they cant confiscate your paper ID especially if it was issued by the DMV

Yeah, I told him to go get his ID back, as there are no permissible grounds (as far as I know) that allow an establishment to confiscate a legitimate, state-issued ID. He was too angry to do that, though. Is it legal for venues to be that discretionary with IDs?

yes, every establishment has the right to refuse service to anyone, especially if they think an ID is fake
we dont usually confiscate fake IDs but we wont let them in with one
that wasnt a fake ID but it can be faked so its a risk taking the ID
