What did you guys think of Poppin Phresh last weekend? I had an awesome time. Korina Bliss rocked with her Linkin Park mixes.

I didn't enjoy Korinas set at all, actually.
The whole event was really fun, though.

Hmm. I was in an altered state of mind and didn't really listen to her entire set. From what I caught it was badass.

i am not some noob. i've been in the club scene a decade and going to afterlife since day 2, so dont come at me the same way you come at some noob.
i'm only typing this to inform you that i, as one who is rather educated and wellversed in most forms of EDM, find you to be one of the worst DJs i have ever seen grace afterlife's decks with their presence. your track selection is terrible, your inability to hold a mix or beatmatch in general is atrocious, your sets have an obvious lack of any sense of phrasing or programing of any kind, you're just really bad dude. and i can assure you that many many people, noobs, old schoolers, and anything in between, most assuredly think the same way. some people would look at something like this as an opportunity to grow as an artist, well let me tell ya, you've got a lot of growing to do.

For some of the "Headliners" playing my style of music, I thought it was horrid. I can understand Kaydence having some issues with Serato, so she switched to vinyl and continued playing. As for Korina Bliss, Her set was a disaster, Trainwrecked throughout the set, track selection was off, mixing was off. It was just horrible.
We have some locals who could out DJ most of the headliners they had that night.
And just a side note, Poppin Phresh, Krush, and Breakthrough were not Afterlife events, the venue was rented by an outside promotions crew.

who else got a nasty gram this morning???
I've been criticized for my mixing skills before, but I just shrug it off and go on with my life...
I guess some people are self conscious of their mixing skills and feel the need to defend them selves...

funny you would have a problem with my mixes when everyone else I talked to loved it so much they were bringing me back, not even 2 months later. I didn't trainwreck at all. A trainwreck, as you should know, is when both tracks are off and theres no way to fix it but to switch to the next track. and it sounds like shit. The only time it was off was when the needle on the left kept jumping, and that was for moments only before I corrected it.
secondly, I love Kadence shes a great girl but her mixes were off, her set had no flow she kept jumping from dnb to dubstep it was pretty rough. And thats not my opinion, that's what I heard from other ppl after the party. are you sure you're not mixing us up?
granted, im no expert and have lots to learn but the way you slammed me on a public board was pretty harsh and immature. |
I'm not in the scene to make friends or smooze my way to the top, I am an adult and I have an opinion, I am also not afraid to voice my opinion. I just thought it was funny I got an email more than 2 months after an event, talk about digging, lol. Especially when there were like only 7 people who commented on it.
If someone would have slammed me, I would have probably admitted to screwing up on some songs, hell I'm human, hell I'm surprised people don't catch some of the mistakes I DO make... I love taking criticism, it just means I know what to fix the next time I am up there, I mean we are not perfect beings, we all have bad days....
And for the record, A trainwreck is when two songs go off beat with each other... (shoes in a dryer) Even if you do catch it and sync them back again. If it is noticeable, its a trainwreck.
